Jackson was born at Andalusia Regional Hospital on July 19, 2007. Doctors discovered he had a virus that caused breathing complications and immediately transported him to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Pensacola. He stayed there 10 days while receiving antibiotic treatment. His mother said, "Thanks to the Ronald McDonald House, we were able to stay right next to the hospital and make frequent visits to see Jackson. Volunteers provided meals and the House was a safe environment for our family. Thank you." |

They pull out all the stops to put their best food forward! Family members of all ages will enjoy barbeque, arts and crafts, children's activities, rides and around the clock entertainment that has a hint of "the Blues". Ronald McDonald himself will join the fun with his faithful sidekicks, The Hamburgler and Grimace in the children's play area. There is a $5.00 entrance fee of which Ronald McDonald House will receive a portion.
Lynn Haven Rotary will be selling Sonny's Bar-b-q pulled pork sandwiches at the event on Saturday to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

Meet Our New Staff Members...

Angie Hanson has joined our staff as Event Manager. She has volunteered at the House for several years. She says that her job as the Event Manager will allow her some added continuity and impact in the work she does for the House. Her primary responsibility will be to plan the Kaps for Kids, Firecracker 5K, and Plane Pull events. Angie spent more than 10 years in the insurance industry before moving to the Pensacola area with her husband four years ago. She has spent the last few years volunteering for several organizations, including Learn to Read where she has been tutoring a 56-year-old who wanted to improve her reading skills. Angie is excited to be part of the growing staff at the Ronald McDonald House and looks forward to building many relationships while planning successful events.
Volunteer of the Year in 2006, Rachael Gillette is now excited and proud to be a part of our staff as the Special Campaigns Coordinator. She says the Ronald McDonald House is an inspiring place to be and the staff is a great team of people who work tirelessly to make the House the best it can be. She is a British citizen and moved to Pensacola five years ago when she married her husband Paul. Rachael has a B.A. in Law and American Studies and holds the Bar of England and Wales, from the Inns of Court School of law, London. She practiced law in England for ten years before moving to Pensacola and is now a Family Law mediator. Rachael enjoys helping others and volunteered with Guardian Ad Litem program and the Arts Council before joining the Ronald McDonald House as a volunteer three years ago. In her free time Rachael is an avid sailor and loves to race with her husband and friends on their sailboat "Atlantic Union". | |
